BELLY LAUGH follows Jo, an introverted young woman who—after being broken up with her boyfriend before she can tell him she’s pregnant—turns to standup comedy to find her voice and navigate this episode in her life.

A little about us
BELLY LAUGH is co-written by director Luke Shanahan and lead actor Georgia Clarkson Kelly. We began shooting this feature totally independently in August 2023, and wrapped principle photography in November 2024. Our DoP is the wonderful Gemma Bovenizer, with Luke handling production sound.
Our cast includes Kate Lynch, graduate of the UCD Ad Astra Performing Arts programme, Fiachra Corkery, who you may recognise from music videos such as Junior Brother’s Favourite, as well as Andrea Irvine, known both for her work on screen (Blue Lights, Red Rock) and on stage (The Agreement, Cyprus Avenue).
Georgia is a graduate of Bow Street Academy, and a recent recipient of Screen Ireland’s Actor as Creator scheme.
